7.3 PCM Resolder Chip Terminals

Diesel Technology of Chattanooga is a great option if you need to resolder the chip contact terminals on your PCM.

The PCM circuit board is dipped in a conformal plastic coating after manufacture to protect it from moisture, etc. This coating must be removed to install a performance chip, but unfortunately a lot of people remove not just the coating, but the solder also, revealing the copper circuit traces below. The copper then tarnishes, preventing a good electrical contact between the chip and the terminals.

This can cause major problems; if you get lucky, your truck will just stall or not start. If you are unlucky, this will fry the PCM and the chip.
