Founded in 1873 in Altenvoerde, Germany, BILSTEIN initially gained recognition for window fittings before venturing into the automotive sector. Their early adoption of advanced nickel and chrome plating techniques in the 1920s, inspired by American innovation, paved the way for their significant contribution to the automobile world. In 1927, BILSTEIN produced the first chrome-plated bumper for series automobile production and developed the first functional side-car jack, marking the beginning of their long-standing influence on road safety and driving comfort.
