I want to start this blog by saying that the majority of it is not written by me. We asked the owner of the truck to write about the history of his ownership of it which is much more interesting than me just telling you how much I like it.

However, I do feel the need to state a few things about the truck and the owner. It has to be one of the nicest OBS Ford trucks that has been kept out door its entire life that Ive ever seen. This truck is immaculate and the most awesome color blue (a one year only color) you could ask for on one of these that is also a Powerstroke. David is one of the nicest guys youd ever want to meet. He makes it a point to come to the NOBS show ever year with his F250. Talking with David is definitely one of the highlights of the event for me.

"It was 29 years ago in July 1995 that I decided I was going to go on the hunt for a new 3/4 ton Ford F-250 4x4 pickup with the extra cab.  Since my early years as a boy I had always dreamed of owning a shiny new red pickup truck.  I was in my early 50's and felt that I could finally afford to buy one and Ford had just introduced their new revolutionary Powerstroke diesel engine.  I drove to my local Ford dealership but they didn't have a red one nor did they have one that was fully equipped the way I wanted.  The next closest Ford dealership was located in the small town of Newberg, Oregon located about 22 miles away.  Well, I drove there only to find that they didn't have a red F-250 4x4 with the new Powerstroke engine either.  However, the salesman did have one configured exactly as I wanted but in Brilliant Blue Clearcoat Metalic.  He convinced me to give it a test drive and after about 5 miles I was convinced I really needed one of these.  After a few hours of negotiating and adding some things like a set of carpeted Ford floor mats, a set of vinyl Ford floor mats, undercoating, paint and upholstery protection, a bedliner, and a rock shield/bug deflector for the hood, we arrived at a purchase price of $31,758.  An hour later I was driving my brand new F-250 4x4 Powerstroke home, however in Brilliant Blue.

I loved my new Ford truck and received a number of compliments over the next few months.  However, one day at my office the high school aged daughter of a gentleman I shared office space with came into the office and asked her dad, "who owns that blue Ford truck out in the parking lot"?  He told her it was mine.  She walked down the hall, entered my office, and proceeded to tell me that my new pickup was "the ugliest color of blue she had ever seen"!  I felt like I'd been belly-kicked!!  However, over the last 29 years the color has grown on me to the point of actually liking it.

It's the best, most trouble free truck I have ever owned.  At 86,000 miles I am still on my original brakes, exhaust system, interior upholstery, transmission,  engine, and paint.  My engine and transmission are unmodified and OEM.  I have never had a garage, carport cover, or shop where I could keep my truck protected from the outside elements so it's always been out in the wet, damp, western Oregon weather.  I had it waxed for just the 3rd time since I've owned it for the 2024 No BS OBS Show.  The interior has never been detailed but just vacuumed maybe half a dozen times since new.  I still have the original Ford carpeted floor mats in the unopened box in the garage and have only used the vinyl ones since they're easy to clean.  I've kept all the original paperwork and documents that Ford gave me at the time of purchase.  I have also kept any maintenance and minor repair records that I've incurred.

I am now 73 years old and still enjoy taking my truck out every now and then.  I only put a few hundred miles a year on it but find that i enjoy every mile.  After over 29 years my Ford F-250 almost feels like it's part of the family.

David's story is a perfect example of the bond that can form between a person and their vehicle. His 1995 Ford F-250 Powerstroke, in the unique Brilliant Blue Clearcoat Metallic, isn’t just a truck—it’s a part of his life. Despite being kept outside in the Oregon weather, it's in incredible condition, showing the quality of these OBS Fords and David's dedication.

His story is a reminder that a vehicle can become much more than just a way to get around; it can be a cherished piece of our history.
