Dieselsite 7.3L Coolant Filtration System - 1999-2003 Ford F-Series
Dieselsite 7.3L Coolant Filtration System - 1999-2003 Ford F-Series
Pairs Well With
Dieselsite Coolant Filter Installation Kit
Coolant filtration is nothing new in the diesel world. Medium-duty and over-the-road diesel engines have used coolant filters from the factory for decades. Unfortunately, this critical protection was largely skipped on light-duty diesel trucks — most likely as a cost-cutting measure.
For engines like the 7.3L Powerstroke, this is a problem.
During the engine casting process, sand is used in the molds, and not all of it is removed. Over time, this sand slowly leaches out into the cooling system where it acts like liquid sandpaper — wearing down water pump seals, radiator cores, hoses, and fittings. Removing these abrasive particles can dramatically extend the life of your cooling system components.
🔥 What the Coolant Filter Removes:
-
Casting sand left behind during engine manufacturing
-
Abrasive debris circulating through the cooling system
-
SCA (Supplemental Coolant Additive) precipitate that flakes off internal surfaces
-
Scale and solid contaminants that accelerate wear
⚠️ Important Note on SCAs:
The filter removes solid abrasive particles only — it does NOT remove the chemical protection provided by SCAs.
🛠️ How the System Works:
The Dieselsite Coolant Filter Kit is a bypass-style filtration system, meaning it filters a small portion of coolant on each pass. Over time, this continuously removes debris without restricting coolant flow.
A spin-on filter design makes servicing quick and clean, allowing you to easily change filters at regular intervals.
It’s never too late to install a coolant filter. While existing wear can’t be reversed, this kit prevents further damage and protects new components from premature failure.
💧 Why This Matters:
Over decades of real-world use, a clear pattern has emerged — many Powerstroke water pumps fail between 40,000 and 80,000 miles. If you’ve already replaced a pump, installing a coolant filter now can help ensure your replacement lasts far longer than the original.
By removing abrasive contaminants, wear on:
-
Water pumps
-
Radiators
-
Water necks
-
Coolant hoses
is dramatically reduced.
📦 What’s Included:
-
Coolant filter mount
-
All required fittings
-
Hose
-
Stainless steel clamps
-
Everything needed for a complete installation
🔁 Filter Change Recommendations:
-
Replace the filter every 3 months for the first 9 months
-
If coolant flow to the expansion tank slows or stops, the filter is plugged — replace immediately
-
After the 4th filter, service interval typically extends to once per year
A coolant filter is one of the most effective longevity upgrades you can make to a diesel engine. Simple, proven, and highly recommended for protecting your investment.
