💪 Improve Steering Geometry

Lifting an OBS Ford changes the relationship between the axle, drag link, and steering box. Crossover steering helps correct that geometry by relocating the drag link connection to a purpose-built steering arm mounted at the knuckle.

The Sky's system is designed to provide a much better drag-link angle on lifted trucks.

With a stock pitman arm, the kit is designed to correct steering geometry for approximately 7 inches of lift, placing the drag link nearly parallel with the axle.

Depending on the application, the system can accommodate trucks with up to approximately 10 inches of lift, although Sky's recommends using a 4-inch drop pitman arm when exceeding 8 inches of lift.

🛠️ New Knuckle Option

For the easiest installation, select the new knuckle option.

This provides several advantages:

• No core knuckle required
• No waiting for your original knuckle to be machined
• Replaces worn or questionable factory knuckles
• Reduces vehicle downtime
• Eliminates shipping your original knuckle back and forth
• Gives your steering conversion a fresh foundation

Sky's replacement knuckles use the approximately 1995–1997 bolt-on brake caliper configuration.

Earlier trucks may require conversion to the later-style brake calipers. The required calipers are readily available through local auto parts stores and require no additional modification to work with the Sky's knuckle and compatible truck.

📦 Existing Knuckle Machining Option

You can also send your existing knuckle to Sky's for machining.

If using this option:

1. Remove the knuckle from the truck.
2. Remove the ball joints and spindle studs.
3. Package the bare knuckle securely.
4. Clearly mark the package with your order number, full name, and phone number.
5. Ship the knuckle to Sky Manufacturing according to the instructions supplied with your order.

Do not send knuckles that have previously been machined or welded.

Sky's states that machining your supplied knuckle can add up to approximately two weeks to the order's ship time. If other products are ordered with the steering kit, those items will be held until the knuckle machining is complete so the complete order can ship together.

The crossover steering arm is machined from ASTM A572 Grade 50 steel, a high-strength structural steel commonly used in demanding applications such as heavy construction equipment, structural beams, anchoring systems, and boom sections.

⚠️ Important Fitment Notes

• Minimum recommended lift: 4 inches
• Lower trucks may require notching the frame for clearance.
• 1.5-inch taller steering arms are intended for trucks with leaf spring packs measuring 3.75 inches thick or greater.
• Designed to correct approximately a 7-inch lift using the stock pitman arm.
• Applications up to approximately 10 inches of lift may be possible without a drop pitman arm.
• Sky's recommends a 4-inch drop pitman arm above 8 inches of lift.
• New Sky's knuckles use the 1995–1997-style bolt-on brake calipers.
• Brake calipers are not included.
• Do not send Sky's a knuckle that has already been machined or welded.
